TN native. A large tree that is native to the southeastern U.S. It has a leaf design fairly typical of the hickories, a compound leaf with 7 to 13 oblong pointy leaflets. The fruit is about 1.2” diameter, roundish, and contains a very bitter kernel beneath the husk and shell. Not a very common tree.
